South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, apologizing to his wife, children, staff, “and anybody who lives in South Carolina,” says he’s been unfaithful to his wife and has been in a relationship with another woman in Argentina.
I guess if you are Republican you can be happy that the affair wasn't gay!

What about don't ask don't tell?
President Barack Obama on Wednesday will sign a presidential memorandum extending health care and other benefits to gay and lesbian partners of federal employees, an administration official tells POLITICO.
For more information...http://www.politico.com
Aren't troops federal employees?
Is Don't ask, Don't tell about to fall?
If so, it's about damn time.
Thank you Iowa, yet again you are ahead of the curve. Sphere: Related Content

Republicans become doves?
Today, the U.S. House passed the War Spending Bill.
Can you guess how most of the hawkish Republicans voted?
ALL BUT 5 VOTED AGAINST IT?
Have they really become doves or are they worried about a liberal running a war? Sphere: Related Content

Illegal immigrants and government programs.
I have just responded to an email about Joe Legal vs. Joe Illegal. Which is a list of BS that says illegal immigrants get government assistance.
Let's be realistic about all of this if an illegal immigrant showed up for unemployment or food stamps said illegal would be arrested and deported.
Please explain to me how anyone without a SSN, or proof of who they are can get government assistance, when I can barely get Wal-mart to take a check.
I am tired of this ridiculous argument about illegal immigrants getting services.
They come here, use fake documents to get jobs, pay taxes: payroll, sales, etc. and never, in a million years will they see one red cent of SSI, it will not happen.
If you disagree with that just give me proof from the government or a reliable source, not Fox "News", or please drop this discussion because I can't do the mental gymnastics that you apparently can. Sphere: Related Content

Good Luck "Justice" Sotomayor!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have just received an email from my father in law with the following "joke":
Where it all began
A little girl wrote to Sarah Palin and asked;
'How did the human race start?'
Sarah Palin answered, 'God made Adam and Eve;
They had children; and so was all mankind made.'
Two days later the girl wrote to Michelle Obama
and asked the same question. Michelle Obama answered,
'Many years ago there were monkeys from which
the human race evolved.'
The confused girl went to her father and said,
'Dad, how is it possible that Sarah Palin told me
the Human race was created by God,
And Michelle Obama said they evolved from monkeys.'
The father answered, 'Well, Dear, it is very simple,
Sarah Palin told you about her ancestors
and Michelle Obama told you about hers.'
Of course my response was to tell him that this is obviously a racist joke.
And what was his response: "C’mon! Have a sense of humor. It really deals with a deeper issue than you are considering and that is whether you believe in Creationism or Darwin’s theory of Evolution. Liberals tend towards Evolution and therefore, Michelle’s answer would reflect that belief. What’s racist about that?"
I believe the deeper meaning is the divide of generations. He comes from a place that says that political correctness means you can not say anything racist or bigoted.
My belief in what political correctness is difference in language not thought.
A racist is a racist.
A prime example of this is going on right now with the fight over Sonia Sotomayor.
Rush Limbaugh calls Sotomayor a reverse racist, Andrew Wilkow mispronounces her name "Sada-myer", and the right wants to say that she is a Latina equivalent of the KKK. What is the problem with this?
Is this political correctness going too far?
I say that this is just ignorance parading as debate. Rush likes to stir up his base and Wilkow, well most people don't know who he is. But what does this tell us about the way that they think.
Maybe I'm just a homer for Sotomayor, maybe I just like her and think that she is qualified because it's Obama's pick. But, I have to throw some logic into this, lets look at her background:
1. She was accepted with a full scholarship to Princeton.
2. While there she won the Pyne Prize- which reflects not only grades but extracurricular activities and is awarded to the top performing undergrad.
3. She was Phi Beta Kappa
4. She got a scholarship to Yale Law.
5. She then became editor of Yale Law Review.
6. She became an Assistant DA in New York right out of law school.
7. She served as the youngest trial judge in New York's southern district, being nominated by GHW Bush.
8. Nominated to the court of appeals by Bill Clinton. (At the time Limbaugh only called her ultraliberal)
9. If confirmed she would have more experience than any other sitting Justice.
I have read the speech that Limbaugh says is racist and I have to say that if you come from a certain generation you may find it intimidating. The intimidation comes from the realization that White Men are not the only articulate, mindful, and intellegent people in the world.
I know that much of what the right is saying comes from what they percieve is just outrage. But for me it comes across as pattenly political.
Fox News and others have suggested that the pick is a political move on Obama's part to secure the Latino and Female vote.
They maybe right, but only if you look at this from the point of view of the "old" politics.
For me and people younger this is a pick of someone who is well qualified, has a excellent background, and happens to have a different skin color than the President and the majority of the people who seem to be against her.
Step back, reflect on the facts, and remember that justice is blind.
Sotomayor is not a reverse racist, whatever that really means, she is a superbly qualified nominee.
As for that ruling in New Haven with the fire fighters, don't take Glen Beck's opinon as your own, read the ruling and you will see that she, along with the other judges, defered to the Supreme Court. The reason for the deferment is they knew that the Supreme Court is the only place that this case could be resolved. So much for the appeals court making law argument.
But now I'm getting bitter again.
Good Luck Ms. Sotomayor, and don't forget where you came from, it's rather impressive.

Pelosi is not the problem, Cheney is!
For the last several days the media has brought up Nancy Pelosi over and over again.
I have heard Republicans talk about her as if she is the one who waterboarded the detainees at Gitmo. They want to know what she knew and when she knew it. But, they simply miss the point.........THE BUSH/CHENEY ADMINISTRATION WAS IN CHARGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dick Cheney is out talking about the Obama Administration not keeping America safe, what does he know?
Oh, wait, he was the real president over the last 8 years, I forgot, Sorry about that.
The idea that Nancy Pelosi is somehow misrepresenting the CIA's briefings is insane.
I think that the Republicans need to be careful with what they say and do with this.
Some are asking for a "truth commission" to get to the bottom of this. Well if you want the Bush Administration to lie under oath go ahead with the commission.
The bottom line on the torture issue is this:
THEY LEFT A PAPER TRAIL!!!!!
I am not saying that I condone torture, but when our government does things that it's not suppose to I thought the officials were suppose to have plausible deniablitiy.
If they wanted to torture detainees they should have passed a law allowing the practice. After 9/11 they could have gotten anything to pass for about 2 years after. They could have stripped the constitution of every right if they wanted to, and some say that they did.
The Bush Administration had everyone scared to death and they could have done anything they wanted to, but what did the Republican Congress do? They passed a resolution boycotting French made products and renamed French Fries.
Even if they didn't change the laws they could have done anything they wanted as long as they didn't leave a paper trail.
It is the existence of this paper trail that begs the current Administration to allow for the prosecution of any and all parties complicit in the torturing of detainees, if they block this then their change and transparency argument are gone and the Republicans will have no tact in beating them up over it in 2010 and 2012. When Fear is your only play then you need a new playbook.
I HAVE HEARD, SEEN, AND READ ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The only tactic left for the Republican party is the one that they have used since 9/11: FEAR.
During the election:
Obama is a mu slim!
Obama is a terrorist!
Obama is a socialist!
Obama has a funny middle name!
During the lame duck session of GWB:
Obama is trying to be a co-president.
Obama has made a new symbol for himself.
Obama is going to appoint Bill Ayers to a cabinet position.
During his first 100 days in office :
Obama is a facist!
Obama is talking to terrorists!
Obama says we are not a Christian nation!
Why can we not have a civilized discussion?
Why does everything have to be black and white for you people?
I was once a Republican, I voted for GWB, TWICE!!!!!!!!!!!!,
I understand the mentality of the right, at least I thought. I was only 20 when the towers fell, and I have to say I did not like Clinton, or Al Gore. But I never thought they were the enemy of this country. Now the right has decided that the President of the United States is someone to fear.
When the left saw GWB this way, (which was justified to a point), they were called un-American and were told how much they hated this country. The country went a little nuts after 9/11, we had this idea that any moment the terrorist were going to strike and we had to make sure everyone had their plastic sheeting and duct tape handy.
Now these same people like Sean Hannity, Glen Beck, Rusty Humphries, and all the local Ditto Heads are making Obama out to be Marx, Stalin, and Hitler all roled into one. They see him as an enemy. They make fun of the fact he asked people to wash thier hands, cough into their sleves and stay home if they were sick. I think Obama's plan for the swine flu would be more effective than plastic sheeting and duct tape for a bio attack.
Now the real crazy is starting to show: They think Obama is to blame for the flu pandemic.
Sure Obama, wants to have a health crisis to get his cabinet filled, and to push through Universal Healthcare, and to scare the American people into being destracted while he turns the US into a socialist dictatorship.
Will someone please give me an antidote for this crazy pill they want me to swallow?
The new head of the RNC is talking about Arlen Specter flipping birds, and he is positive that Specter's "mamma didn't raise him like that".
Michelle Bachman is........................well just watch these:
And she is just the easiest example.
The Republicans are going to the playbook that helped them in 2002 and 2004, the problem is the only play in it is fear.
WHEN FEAR IS YOUR ONLY PLAY YOU NEED A NEW PLAYBOOK!
You also need a new coach and probably new team.
But I am not angry with these people, in fact I love them.
I love Andrew Wilcow's slogan: We're Right, they're wrong, END OF STORY!
I guess when the only people you talk to are on the right you have a hard time finding anyone that does not agree with you.
But isn't this like a story that Rush brings up a lot about Pauline Kael's quote: "I don't know anyone who voted for Nixon"
Why are there only plans about defeating liberals?
Why do they not offer real solutions?
Why do they only say "no" instead of "why not do it this way"?
I think the only answer is they have no solutions, they have no plan, they have no other way, and so they may have no support.
